Spring.
As a verb, it means to suddenly or rapidly move or jump upward or forward, or to originate or arise from.
As a noun, it refers to the time of year after winter and before summer, when plants start to grow, is referred to as spring.
Synonyms include arise from, evolve from, or originate from.
This word, even as a noun, has a lot of energy behind it. As a season, spring is associated with renewal, beginnings, and life. New excitement, goals, and ambitions come with such a time. We must pause in this time and relish it. It is easy to get into the weeds of life and not enjoy the garden. Often, while there is so much new happening around us, we focus on the things that are not going according to plan. Whereas the things that are falling into place correctly get overlooked due to anxiety and stress and being overwhelmed.
Within speedy businesses, it can be easy to look at the things that are not working as intended. This project went over budget. That client ghosted us. Those projects are on hold now. It becomes discouraging as we focus on these things.
HOWEVER!
These things happen, but when we stop and look at the love our clients and our team have for the work we do. It reminds us of the importance of what we do and why we do it. Within our design team, we have a channel in our messaging system that is titled “client love” and another for “daily gratitude.” Because we want to focus on the good we see in our work lives.
As we step into this spring season, there are meaningful gardening tips that can be helpful to our businesses.
- Fertilizer.
- The definition of fertility is the quality of productiveness. Suppose your team is not as productive as you want or need them to be. Sit down and teach them. Ensure that they have the tools they need to succeed in your company’s productivity.
- Photosynthesis
- Photosynthetic organisms, such as most plants, algae, and cyanobacteria, use a series of biological processes called photosynthesis to transform light energy from the sun into chemical energy that fuels their metabolic activities. The energy you bring into the workplace matters. If plants don’t have enough sunlight, they cannot grow and produce appropriately. Similarly, people that are around lots of negative energy are not as happy or productive. The energy and environment of your work atmosphere matters.
- Gardener
- Someone who cares for and grows plants in a garden for enjoyment or as a profession. As leaders, we are called to do more than tell people what to do. We are called to grow our garden, resources, and people. They look to us to be not only a guide but an example of how to treat projects, clients, and co-workers. We are called to do the hard work of pruning as well.
- Pruning
- Cutting away dead or overgrown branches and stems, especially to encourage fruitfulness and growth. We help our teams grow through struggles by cutting out the acceptance of poor habits and behavior within your environment.
While I could continue to make gardening references for how to garden and grow your business internally, I will pause here. Inner growth leads to growth around us. When we work on ourselves as leaders, we are setting an example for others, especially for our teams.
